Tim + Alex teamed up with Comic Book Classroom, a podcast that recaps histories of comics titles, teams and characters, for something a bit special. 44 issues of The Wicked + The Divine, as a 45-minute radio play, with jokes and sketches and really far too much thought poured into it.
It’s called Comic Book Classroom Gets TWATD, and we’re incredibly proud of it. With the final issue dropping next week, this is the perfect way of reminding yourself which bits to cry at.
Or, y’know, just search your podcast app of choice for ‘Comic Book Classroom’. You won’t regret it – unless you’ve got an aversion to puns, in which case this podcast may be detrimental to your health.
I normally don’t post my own stuff here, but call it a message in a bottle. #42 was a gut punch for just about everyone, for me for different reasons than most. I ended up writing a (far too long-winded) fanmail about how much I love this mess of a character, and why, but it still didn’t exorcise the feelings properly. (Neither did this, so … this is going to be a process.)
Ended up spending a few quality hours in Tilt Brush (a VR painting app) re-rendering (how fitting, given the remix issue) a panel from the page that broke me for a bit. Could’ve gone for more streamlined brushstrokes / “materials”, but decided to do it mostly in (emulated) oil paint to juxtapose the aesthetic. It’s not great, but I’m still quite new to Tilt Brush and the whole painting-3D-figures thing.
